Bach Sonatas for Violin and Harpsichord

This series of concerts presents the entire set of six sonatas that J. S. Bach wrote for violin and harpsichord, performed by Penelope Spencer, baroque violin, and Terence Charlston, harpsichord.

Of these works, the composer's son Carl Philip Emmanuel Bach wrote: "The violin and harpsichord sonatas comprise some of J S Bach's most charming and accessible chamber music, and were described by his son, Carl Philipp, in 1774 as " amongst the finest works of my dearly beloved father. They still sound excellent and give me great pleasure, although they are over fifty years old. There are several Adagios in them which even nowadays could not be set in a more singing style."
