Abby Wall

Abby Wall is a freelance baroque cellist who performs and records regularly with The King's Consort, Canzona, The Private Music (winners of the 1999 International Early Music Competition), Musica Donum Dei and as a duo with her husband.

After completing her degree at New Hall Cambridge she studied Early Cello at the Royal College of Music with Anthony Pleeth and then toured Europe and Japan with the European Union Baroque Orchestra. Since then she has performed recitals in diverse venues ranging from the Purcell Room to the QE2.

Engagements in the past year have included solo recitals at Park House, Sandringham and Calcutta Cathedral, India. She is a champion of the bass violin - the instrument that preceded the baroque cello and is exploring its potential as a solo instrument. Abby also teaches Baroque Ensemble playing and has given workshops at venues including Jackdaws, Somerset and Morley College, London where she was early music tutor for three years.
