Asako Morikawa -
viola da gamba
Asako Morikawa started playing viola da gamba in her
native Japan when she was 13 years old, after having
initially studied the violin. In 1988 she moved to
Holland to further her studies of this beautiful
instrument of the renaissance and baroque with renowned
Wieland Kuijken at the Royal Conservatorium in The Hague.
She received her Soloists Diploma in 1993 and is now in
demand as a soloist and continuo player throughout
Europe. She is a member of the ensemble Conversations
Galantes, charivari agréable, The English Concert,
Phantasm and Fretwork.
