Jacqueline Dias -
soprano
Jacqueline began her musical studies whilst at Oxford University,
performing in many opera productions, and singing with the Arcadian
Singers and Queen's College chapel choir. Following this she spent two
years as a postgraduate at the Royal Northern College of Music and was
a prizewinner in the Grimsby International Singers Competition. Since
graduating she has lived in Brussels, New York and Paris, performing
regularly in oratorio and recital. She was a semi-finalist in the
Oratorio Society of New York competition whilst living in New York.
In the UK, Jacqueline has sung the roles of Nedda in I Pagliacci
(November 2005), Galatea in Acis and Galatea, Blonde in Die Entführung aus
dem Serail, Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia , Drusilla in L'Incorononazione
di Poppea, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro and First Lady/Papagena in The
Magic Flute. Among many oratorio performances, she has performed The Messiah,
Handel's L'Allegro, Il Penseroso ed Il Moderato, Haydn's Nelson Mass,
Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Bach's Magnificat, Monteverdi's Vespers, and
Vivaldi's Gloria. Most recent recital appearances have been with the pianist
Richard Shaw and flautist Emma Williams in Oxford and at St James's Piccadilly,
and with the Holywell Ensemble, in a performance of the work of two rediscovered
contemporaries of Thomas Arne.
