Nicholas Parle -
harpsichord
Nicholas Parle was born in Sydney and upon completing
a B.Mus degree at the University of Sydney he moved to
London in 1985. In 1989 he won the First Prize in the
International Harpsichord Competition in Brugge, Belgium,
only the third time in the thirty year history of the
competition that a first prize had been awarded. As well
as now working regularly with many groups in England, he
appears as both a soloist and continuo player throughout
Europe, Japan and Australia and he remains indebted to
the many colleagues throughout the world from whom he has
learnt so much. His most recent solo recording was the
complete Bach Partitas. From 1992-1996 he taught at the
Hochschule für Musik in Leipzig. Now professor of
harpsichord at the Guildhall School of Music, his other
teaching engagements include courses in Poland, Hungary,
Australia and Japan.
