Patxi del Amo -
viola da gamba
Patxi was born in Pamplona in 1974 and graduated with
distinction from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
He then pursued his early music studies at Trinity College of
Music (London) as a student of Alison Crum and Jennifer
Ward-Clarke, and took part in the masterclasses of Jordi Savall,
Christopher Hogwood and Catherine Mackintosh. Since then he has
enjoyed a busy diary as a performer, researcher and teacher.
He has given recitals both as a soloist and as a member of
specialist ensembles such as Sweelinck Ensemble, The
New London Consort, Amnis and Sociall Musick. He has recorded
for BBC Radio3 and ASV-Gaudeamus.Patxi is Head of Strings at
the DaCapo Foundation in London and is visiting professor of
baroque cello and viola da gamba at the JoaquĆn Maya School of
Music (Spain) and the National Children's Orchestra.
